Find "The Dress" at Our Lila Couture Trunk Show

This weekend, Novemeber 19-November 24 Posh Bridal Couture is hosting a Lila Couture Trunk Show. We are getting in many new styles, so even if you have shopped with us recently come try the new styles on...you may just find "the dress"! During our trunk show, Lila Couture dresses are 15% off! Sopots are filling up quickly, so call today and schedule your appointment with one of our bridal experts (612) 871-4280.

Why we Love Lila Couture?

Lila Couture features gowns that are exclusive to only a handful of retailers. And because you can truly customize the way you want your dress to look (changing the neckline, adding or subtracting straps, adding embellishment, etc.) it is not likely you will see your exact dress on another bride.

Lila Couture gowns accentuate your curves and offer just enough support throughout the bust and waist that you can usually forgo worrying about finding the perfect strapless bra, but you are comfortable enough to eat and dance the night away with your sweetheart.

Perfect Pout: Perfect the Classic Red Lip

Okay, so while I can't teach you how to look like Penelope Cruz on your wedding day, I can give you tips to get the perfect red pout that won't kiss off on him.

Materials:

  • #43 Moulin Rouge Make up For ever Lipstick (or you can take a trip to Sephora where a makeup artist can help you choose the right shade of red cutomized to your skin and hair)

  • Too Faced Lip Insurance

  • DuWop Reverse Lip liner

  • Make up For Ever Mist & Fix

Let's Get Started:

  1. Prep your lips with Too Faced Lip Insurace (this will keep the lipstick in place all day long and keep your lips from ever having that cracked, dry look...yuck!

  2. Line the outside of your lips with the Duwop Reverse Lipliner, the reverse lipliner has no color, but is simply a waxy texture that tells the color where to go and where not to go (i.e. your color won't bleed or feather and make you look back at your photos in embarassment)

  3. Apply your Make Up For Ever Moulin Rouge as normal

  4. For a truly kiss-proof, all day wear, spritz a bit of Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix over your lips, and Voile! A perfect, smooch-worthy red lip!

Destination Wedding Dresses in at POSH Bridal Couture

Destination weddings are more popular now than ever; according to Conde' Nast Bridal Group, 16% of weddings are destination weddings. Whether your wedding is in the Bahamas or Italy (and everywhere in between) we now have the most beautiful gowns that are travel friendly and beach-worthy. We have had many brides come in looking for destination style dresses that are easy to travel with, so we listened to our brides and just got in new styles of destination dresses. Our new line of dresses we are carrying feature sheath styles and shorter trains to make it easier for shoreside weddings on the beach.

POSH Bridal Couture's Wedding dress tips for Destination Weddings:

1. Choosing the dress- Pick a fabric that will travel well; we suggest lace or chiffon that is light and airy enough to transport and will provide the most comfort in any climate, especially a hot one. Consider your venue too when choosing a destination wedding gown; if it is a beach wedding you will most likely want something casual, whereas if you are getting married in a church in Europe you may want to opt for something more traditional.

2. Accessorize- Choose your accessories wisely with your bridal consultant. You may want to forego the veil and choose a flower headpiece/headband for a beach wedding. Your shoes are also extremely important to think about when planning your destination wedding; know the terrain you will be walking on when you are walking down the "aisle" if it is grass or sand, you may wand to reconsider a 6 inch heel.

3. Travel- Travel with your dress to ensure there is absolutely no possibility with lost luggage or customs that you will be without it. You can leave it in the garment bag and request to have it kept in a closet in first class; this will help to minimize the wrinkling of the dress.

4. Prepping the dress before the wedding- Prior to arriving at your hotel, contact a cleaner/the hotel to make sure you can have your dress steamed and picture perfect for the day of the wedding; No matter what precautions you took, the dress will still get wrinkled while traveling.

How-To: POSH's Top 10 Tips for How to Shop for Your Wedding Dress

Here is some advice for finding the perfect dress, because dress shopping should be the most enjoyable part of planning your wedding not the most stressful!

1. Undergarment selection. Wear undergarments that are close to your skin tone, so that you will you not see them underneath sheer styles. If you are planning to wear spanks, special hosiery, or any kind of other control garments, bring them along to try on dresses with.

2. Sample, sample, sample. If you fall in love with a dress but it is a little over your preferred price range, you should consider buying the sample if it is close to your size (With a couple alterations appointments it will fit like a glove).

3. Does it make you feel good? Does your face light up? You walk with a little more pep in your step? Yup, then that is the one.

4. Look the part. If you are pretty sure you know you want to wear your hair up, wear your hair up for the appointment in a similar style. If you know you plan on wearing a specific shade of liptick the day of your wedding, bring a tube along and pop a little on before you start trying on gowns.

5. Don’t wait until the last minute. We recommend finding “the dress” as soon as you can to allow for the dress to be custom made to your body by the designer, sent to the store, and ready for any alterations. (Allow for 6-10 months for the total process).

6. Bring along a camera. We recommend taking photos while trying on dress so you can remember which styles you liked and which styles you didn't like.

7. There is no timeline for finding "the dress". Just because it is the first dress, and you fall in love, doesn’t mean you need to keep looking. If you are in love with the dress, just “say yes”. Afterall, you wouldn’t suddenly start looking for more fish in the sea if you snagged yourself a good man the first time around.

8. Make a wedding binder. Buy a binder or notebook and put absolutely everything you see that catches you eye - dress photos, magazine clippings, fabric swatches, family photos, etc. This will give you inspiration and help your bridal consultant find "the one" for you.

9. It's all in who you know. Consider friends who have a similar style to yours or know exactly what you like and bring them along for a second opinion.

10. Consider styles and silhouettes.

a. Neckline: Strapless, halter, sleeves, etc.

b. Silhouettes: A-line, modified A-line, ball gown, mermaid, sheath or column, empire

c. Color: Ivory, white, diamond white, champagne

d. Embellishments: Rhinestones, crystal, embroidery, hand-beaded, lace

e. Fabric: Silk, silk polyester blend, polyester, chiffon, lace

Black and White Themed Weddings!

We are seeing so many black and white themed weddings lately, from our brides that come in and we love the idea! It is so timeless, but yet edgy and makes a powerful statement (and gorgeous pictures!) Below is our favorite black and white (actually ivory) Tsarina Couture (featured at POSH!) dress that has such an old Hollywood glamour to it. The style is Alisha and it is made from the softest silk. Also, notice the bow in the back is vertical instead of horizontal which gives it more of a couture feel.

Featured are some photos from Martha Stewart Weddings that we thought were so elegant and inspiring.

How-to: Conceal Tattoos for your Wedding Day

Step 1: Start by laying out all the products you will need. I am using an HD finishing powder (I am using Primed and Poreless by Too Faced), Clinique Matte Concealer, Laura Mercier Camoflage Brush Long, Clinique Natural Bristled Crease Brush and Powder Brush). For the concealer I wold also recommend using the Kat Von D Tattoo concealer (it is very water resistant and covers just about anything!)

A Before Photo of the Tattoo I am about to conceal....

Step 2: On clean skin, use your concealer brush to roll the concealer on to the area you wish to conceal.

Step 3: Use your powder brush to gently pat on the HD powder. Make sure not to press or sweep away at the concealer underneath. An HD powder is ideal for concealing a tattoo, instead of a tranditional powder, because it photographs better and will keep it from transfering on to your clothing. ***For large tattoos you may need to repeat steps 2 & 3 several times until it is completely covered.

Step 4: With your crease brush (which is actually an eye shadow brush), make small circles around the outer edges of the concealer to make your application seamless and to ensure you do not leave any lines.

Private Screening of JWP Trunk Show

What a fun night last night was! We had a private party for the JWP Trunk Show. (As mentioned before here). Here is a photo of Stacy (one of the partners of POSH) mingling at the trunk show.

Featured to the left are some of JWP's newest jewelry designs which feature a lot of funky, chunky stones with wire-wrapped pendants.

We all fell in love with the bold new colors!

So...we tried on some jewelry, drank great wine, indulged in treats, and hung out with the fabulous designer of JWP Designs, Jennifer Walker Peterson!

Jennifer Walker Peterson, herself! Here is the savvy business woman who started her company after her husband handed her a "how-to-start-your-own-small-business" book. "I wanted to do someting that would allow me to stay at home with the kids, too," She said. Her first jewelry design was her wedding bracelete, that she made after she could not find a style anywhere else that she liked. Talk about innovative! Like POSH, JWP is also mentioned in the CRAVE guide.

Look at how vibrant the beautiful bouquet from JUST BlOOMED is; JUST BLOOMED is a foral company that features wedding flowers and has been voted the 2010 pick for one of the best wedding vendors The Knot!
